The Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (OIAAA) is pleased to announce that Julie Renner has been appointed to the Assistant Executive Director position. This is a new role within the OIAAA that was a vision of the late executive director, Bruce Brown, to help continue the mission of the association.
“Being appointed the Assistant Executive Director is an honor”, Renner said. “As an Athletic Administrator, I always received great support from the OIAAA and found professional development opportunities to enhance the purpose of education-based athletics. I look forward to giving back. “
Renner is a member of the Southwest District Ohio Athletic Directors Association, the National Executive Directors Council and the state and national associations. She worked in K-12 education for over 25 years. Her administrative background includes: Principal, (2003-2013) in the New Richmond Exempted Village School District and District Director of Student Athletics, (2013-2018) with Loveland City School District.
Renner said,” I look forward to serving on the OIAAA Executive Board to support our members and the student-athletes of Ohio.”
OIAAA President Rick said, “the OIAAA is extremely excited to have someone of Julie’s caliber joining our team. I believe the combination of Julie and new Executive Director, Glen Gillespie, will be a perfect match to take our organization to new heights, adding to the good work that has been accomplished to date. I am very much looking forward to working with Julie and all she brings to the table.”
Executive Director Glen Gillespie echoed Rick’s statement while adding, “we already have a relationship through the help she has provided to the Leadership Training classes in the past. All of her duties will be worked out in the next few months but Julie has already started to make an impact with her wiliness to get involved”
The Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (OIAAA) is pleased to announce that Glen Gillespie, CMAA has been promoted to the Executive Director position. Glen has been serving as the Interim since July. Glen succeeded the first Executive Director Bruce Brown who passed away in late June.
“Being the Interim Executive Director these past few months has given me a running start to lead this outstanding organization,” Gillespie said. “My plans are to guide us through this Pandemic year with the hopes of the OIAAA being stronger. In the immediate future we need to provide whatever we can to the Athletic Administrators of Ohio to get through the rest of the 20-21 school year.“
Besides his new position as Executive Director, Glen is also the Leadership Training Coordinator and Newsletter editor for the OIAAA. He is hoping to find someone within the organization to take over these responsibilities so he can concentrate on his new job.
Rick Guimond, OIAAA President pronounced, “We at the OIAAA are excited to begin working with Glen in his more permanent capacity as our executive director. He has been involved with our organization for many years and brings a high level of experience to the position which we feel will benefit the OIAAA and its members.”
Gillespie is a member of the Northwest District Ohio Athletic Administrators Association and a state and national presenter. He served on the NIAAA Publications Committee from 2002-2015 and was the editor for the Ideas That Work section of the IAA magazine. He is a member of the LTI national faculty and was Chair of LTC 608. In 2012, Glen is the Ohio LTI coordinator and the Newsletter Editor. He received the NFHS Citation award for Ohio in 2007 and was inducted into the OIAAA Hall of Fame in 2012. In 2014 he was awarded the NIAAA Distinguished Service Award.
Gillespie said, ”I look forward to working with the Executive Board to make sure Ohio stays in the position as one of the national leaders for educational athletics.”
