It is with great sadness that we share that our dear friend & colleague Bruce Brown passed away today. Bruce’s impact on interscholastic athletics in Ohio and the OIAAA will live on forever. He made a profound and lasting impact on everyone he worked with. We are all better people for knowing him.

Consideration for
OIAAA Assistant Executive Director
Rationale: With the OIAAA’s growth into one of the largest state athletic administrators’ association in the nation,the day-to-day oversight of membership and provision of services has grown exponentially. As such, the position of Assistant Executive Director is meant to enhance and provide greater service to the organization and its membership.
Purpose: Provide support to the OIAAA Executive Director, the Officers and the Board of Directors in the operation of the OIAAA. It is intended that the Assistant Executive Director assume the duties as assigned by the Board of Directors and assume the role of the Executive Director in his/her absence or until such time as the Board identifies additional position needs.
The position of Assistant Executive Director would include, but not be limited to, the following duties:
Minimum Expectations:
Has served a minimum of five years as an OIAAA member with at least two years of service at the District or Executive Board levels of the OIAAA.
Has served a minimum of five years as a full-time interscholastic athletic administrator. Has familiarity with OIAAA collegial associations: OHSAA, OASSA, BASA, OSBA.
Has a working knowledge with technology inclusive of, but not limited to MS Office Suite, Google Suite,
Outlook, Zoom/Google/Other Video Conferencing and FinalForms.
Has a working knowledge of audio-visual equipment and technology.
Has ability to manage social media to advance the association’s presence on both a local and national
level
Knowledgeable of working relationship among OIAAA Districts, OIAAA State and NIAAA organizations
Organizational Responsibilities:
Oversees the development and coordination of the Annual OIAAA State Conference
Works with the Executive Director in the coordination and marketing of the OIAAA
Partnership/Sponsorship program.
Assists with the Membership Chairperson and coordination of membership rosters with OIAAA Treasurer
Assumes additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director and the Executive Board
Time requirements:
Attendance at all Executive Board of Directors meetings
Attendance at OIAAA State Conference
Attendance at NIAAA National Conference
Attendance at NIAAA Section meeting
Engagement at OIAAA Summer Institute
Ability to respond to leadership and membership needs as necessary
Compensation:
Conference registrations at OIAAA and NIAAA Conferences
Lodging at OIAAA, NIAAA and Section 2 conferences/meetings
Mileage (per IRS rate) for all required association meetings
Additional travel reimbursements to conferences as approved by the Board of Directors

Spring Daytime Webinar Sessions
Due to the unique circumstances our country is facing, many state athletic administrator association conferences have been cancelled. In response, the NIAAA has decided to institute a series of afternoon webinars to provide courses to our members that may be affected by these cancellations. These webinar sessions will take place from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. or 7 a.m. – 11 a.m. beginning March 25. Please note that the NIAAA reserves the right to cancel or delay these course offerings at any time in correspondence with the regulations surrounding COVID-19.
Each webinar will last four consecutive hours and participants must be present for the entirety of the session to receive credit. Refunds and/or credit will not be given to participants that miss more than fifteen minutes of the session.
The cost per webinar is $125 for NIAAA members and $210 for non-members. Please note that our office is closed and we are only able to accept payment via credit card.

Courses will be taught by trained and experienced faculty. Each class will be two-120 minute sessions, taught on two consecutive Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings.

Students may take the course via a laptop, desktop or tablet. The course will be visual and audio based. A chat room is available for students to message questions to the instructor and other attendees. Please see the NIAAA Webinar Policies for further information.

Registration and payment deadline for all classes is due a minimum of 3 business days before the first session. All unpaid registrations will not be sent information on how to join the course. Course manual and login instructions will be sent to you through our system automatically after the payment payment is processed.
Certificates:
Students must participate in both sessions (according to the webinar policies) to receive credit. If you must miss one of the two sessions, you will be required to view the recording of the missed session. If you miss both sessions, the option for make-up will not be given. Upon completing both sessions, you will receive an email with a link to the course evaluation. An acknowledgment of course completion will be made available in the Professional Development section of the member portal once both sessions are complete.

RE: “Award of Excellence” Announced for Ohio Schools
The Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (OIAAA), in collaboration with the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), is proud to announce the sixth year of the “AWARD OF EXCELLENCE” for Ohio athletic administrators and their respective athletic departments. The focus of this award is to recognize on-going and consistent efforts on the part of Ohio interscholastic athletic departments that demonstrate best practice in the endorsement and promotion of education-based athletic programming. Specifically, this award recognizes schools that demonstrate intentional efforts to shift the culture of school-based sport programs on an on-going process.
“Our school-based athletic programs have always had the purpose of supporting and paralleling the educational mission of our respective school communities”, stated current OIAAA president, Rick Guimond, athletic administration, Athnes High School. “Over time, the vision of school athletic teams and competition needs to be retold and focused so all stakeholders can best realize the life-time benefits of educational athletics.”
The OIAAA will again partner with the OHSAA to provide recognition opportunities for schools who demonstrate intentional strategies in promoting the educational values associated with interscholastic athletics. The OHSAA, who similarly promotes education-based standards in the mission of school-based sport programs, will help spotlight those schools who meet the “Award of Excellence” criteria by honoring selected schools at upcoming OHSAA state championship venues.

Recipients of the “Award of Excellence” will be honored at the Ohio Boys State Basketball Championships, March 19-21 at the Schottenstein Center at The Ohio State University.
